Fresh from his victory as Best Lead Actor in a TV Programme at the ContentAsia Awards 2024 for his performance in Cattleya Killer, Arjo Atayde takes on another engrossing role that's both emotionally and physically demanding.
“It’s an honor to have our work recognized abroad, and it’s incredibly rewarding to bring this film home to the Philippines. Talagang excited na ako na mapanood ito ng mga kababayan natin!” Arjo shared during the grand presscon held in a makeshift warehouse which was used for filming the said movie.
Aside from Arjo, the ensemble cast features standout performances from Julia Montes, Sid Lucero, Enchong Dee, Kokoy de Santos, Levy Ignacio, Bernard Palanca, Paolo Paraiso, Vin Abrenica, Cholo Barretto, Julio De Leon, Ivan Carapiet, Jeffrey Tam, Gerard Acao, Michael Roy, Maureen Mauricio, Elora Espano, Claire Ruiz, Anne Feo, Bong Cabrera, Manu Respall, Rosh Barman, Victor Medina, Ivan Rivera, Ian Lee, Nico Dans, Yian Gabriel, Raquel Pareno, Precious Laingo, Kayley Carrigan, and Geli Bulaong – bringing life to the film’s complex characters.
Because 'Topakk' explores heavy themes of mental health, corruption, and redemption, all wrapped in high-stakes action sequences, it will be shown in two versions to comply with the MTRCB's rating system. The R-16 version, which will be screened in SM cinemas, features toned-down gore and violence, while the R-18 version, available in other theaters, retains the intense action sequences and harsher violence.
Movie producer Sylvia Sanchez and head of Nathan Studios, assures moviegoers that the film's core story remains intact despite the ratings.
She also praised the entire production and cast for their unwavering support and high caliber performances.
"Saludo ako sa lead actors ko dito, kahit hirap sila, hindi sila nag-inarte. Hindi ko naman din matatawaran yung supporting cast ko. Ang gagaling nila. Ensemble cast ito for Nathan. Saludo ako sa lahat ng artista ko!" she concluded.
