The main lobby of the Bayview Park Hotel Manila is fully adorned
with the traditional "parols"
made with bamboo frames, and covered with colorful paper embodying the spirit
of hope, unity, and goodwill.
There is also the “Belen” retelling of the Nativity depicting the birth of Jesus Christ, a reminder of the true meaning of the season. It is done with local materials for the stable with designs from images wearing Filipino attire.
Spicing up the Filipino charm are local ornaments and
handcrafted decors such as angels fashioned into stars and flowers, the popular
“bahay kubo,” the “banig” weaves, the “bayong” bag and
native “sombrero” and a jeepney frame!
The Christmas Tree Lighting, a morning
festivity – is held at exactly 7:30 AM! – is led by GM Eugene Yap with the
employees participating in the event. Later, guests were served the traditional
staple "simbang gabi"
breakfast treat: puto
bumbong, bibingka,
and other delicacies paired
with the aromatic flavor of the "kapeng
barako".
Indeed, what a way to celebrate the authentic Filipino convivial
spirit -- “Maligaya ang Pasko sa Bayview!”
This year’s special guests included Manila Vice
Mayor Yul Servo, DOT-NCR Director Ms. Sharlene Zabala-Batin, and other key government
officials in the local government of the City of Manila.
