Mama Sita's Mga Kuwentong Pagkain (MKP) Holiday Edition 2023 aims to see food stories that feature Filipino recipes and culinary traditions associated with holidays and celebrations.
MKP was launched in 2012 by the Mama Sita Foundation (MSF) as a platform for one of its cherished advocacies – to promote Philippine culinary heritage. MKP continues with its mission of collecting Filipino food stories through its annual writing contest. Anyone (of any nationality or country) who has a Filipino food story to tell is welcome to join!
Preserving Philippine culinary heritage through stories
Mama Sita’s “Mga Kwentong Pagkain” was inspired by Teresita “Mama Sita” Reyes’ passion for putting into writing her fascinating culinary adventures and experiences.
Now in its 11th year, heart-warming, meaningful, and culturally rich food stories have come from different parts of the Philippines such as students as young as 13 years old, anecdotes from homemakers and teachers, narratives from foodies and professionals, the amusing chronicles from professional cooks, hobbyists, and cooking enthusiasts. In the past year, a 92-year-old retired principal shared her food story, as well as accounts from a monk and a nun.
The submission deadline is on January 25, 2024. For details and more information, visit https://www.mamasitafoundation.com/. Stay updated on the official MKP Facebook and Instagram pages.
Interested participants may submit entries directly to: hello.mkp2023@gmail.com or through https://bit.ly/MKPForms2023.
